Project 02
Mobile Crime-Risk Reporting and Analysis
SafeRoute
Built a cross-platform mobile application that compares direct and risk-avoiding routes, using distance, severity, and time-decay scoring to guide users around community-reported crime zones.

Mobile reporting workflow
The Expo interface includes Google authentication, tab-based navigation, incident reporting, nearby risk lookup, and push-notification device registration. The backend exposes Django REST Framework endpoints for incidents, risk areas, reports, and device registration.
Gemini parses natural-language crime reports into structured information before the API stores and evaluates them.
Safe-route computation
Engineered Django REST APIs and OSRM-based route optimization for crime reporting, nearby-risk queries, and safe-route computation. Risk scoring weighs distance, severity, and time decay so the application can compare direct and risk-avoiding routes.
Visualization and validation
Interactive map overlays visualize crime risk alongside direct and safer route alternatives, while the crime statistics dashboard summarizes reported activity. Unit and integration tests validate routing behavior across the API and route-comparison workflow.
